After the success of season 1 last year, Michael C. Hall's beloved serial killer is set to return this week for more adventures in New York City. Dexter: Resurrection season 2 brings back a number of characters from season 1, while introducing a host of new figures for Dexter to contend with. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Scott Reynolds reveals that Charley, Uma Thurman's head of security for Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage) in season 1, will take on a different role in Dexter: Resurrection season 2. Dexter and Charley will be teaming up to eliminate the remaining killers from Prater's files, and the dynamic includes some romantic tension. As Reynolds describes it: “They are two apex predators, and it’s hard for them to not be attracted to one another. There’s something undeniable that Uma and Michael found.” Dexter teaming up with a female companion to hunt down criminals is, of course, nothing new. Back in season 5 of the original show, Dexter worked with Lumen (Julia Stiles) to hunt down the men who had assaulted her. Dexter and Lumen eventually strike up a romantic relationship, and she becomes the first of his vigilante partners to truly understand his "Dark Passenger." Image via Paramount+Image via MovieStillsDBParamount Lumen remains one of Dexter's few love interests to survive, but she never returned after season 5. Charley coming to occupy a similar role in Resurrection season 2 could make for an interesting change after the revival's first outing. Charley and Dexter were at odds in Dexter: Resurrection season 1. Charley, who is an ex-Special Forces officer, sensed that Dexter was not being truthful about his identity, and she locks him in Prater's vault at gunpoint. The two eventually make peace, however, after Dexter reveals that Prater was keeping secret files documenting her illicit activities as leverage. Exactly how Dexter and Charley start working together after the Dexter: Resurrection season 1 ending remains to be seen, but season 2 is set to introduce a handful of new villains for them to contend with. Among the serial killers being introduced are the New York Ripper (Brian Cox), the Five Borough Killer (Dan Stevens), and the Sleepy-Eyed Stranger (Gabriel Luna). From season 1, Rapunzel (Eric Stonestreet) and Lady Vengeance (Krysten Ritter) are also set to return. With season 2 also set to feature Dexter's son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), working in law enforcement, and Joey Quinn (Desmond Harrington) investigating Angel Batista's (David Zayas) death, the sophomore outing for Hall's serial killer could feature a complex web of intersecting loyalties for him to navigate. As is tradition with the franchise, it's likely that not all characters, new or old, will survive beyond the finale. Dexter: Resurrection season 2 premieres Friday, October 30, on Paramount+.
