Detroiters ask RenCen developers for $40M in gifts. What’s on the list

Detroit residents have collectively asked the developers behind the RenCen project to contribute $40 million to various local initiatives, as detailed in a 18-page document presented to them on October 6. These recommendations, made by the Neighborhood Advisory Council, range from affordable housing to community services and small business support. This move underscores the community's desire to ensure the RenCen development positively impacts local residents and addresses longstanding socio-economic issues. The request highlights the importance of community input in large urban projects.
