Despite canning the Copilot+ brand, "most people love" its AI assistant, says Microsoft

It's easy to assume that the Redmond giant's AI offering has gotten a bit stale, especially after dropping the Copilot+ brand from its laptops. However, according to one employee, Copilot is going stronger than ever, and people actually love it. Copilot is doing just fine, says a Microsoft employee It's apparently going down great with businesses Over on X, Nicolas Bustamante, who works at Microsoft in its AI division, received a reply to one of his Copilot-related announcements. The reply simply read, "Serious question: does ANYONE use copilot?," to which Bustamante took some time to sit down and go over his feelings about the attitude toward Microsoft's digital assistant. Bustamante says that, before he got involved with AI, he knew "maybe five people who used Copilot". In comparison, "Microsoft 365 Copilot now has 30 million paid seats and is growing fast," and he believes that Copilot's ability to work with a company's existing data to meet their privacy and compliance requirements is a key part of why. He rounds off his post by saying that people really like it: "So people use Copilot for real work, and yes, most people love it. I use it every day now: Copilot CLI for coding (with access to models from Gemini, OpenAI, xAI and Anthropic!) + Copilot Cowork for regular chat Etc. I’ve been happy with it. I think the perception gap on this website comes from the San Francisco tech bubble. If you’re a tech bro like me, you mostly know people at smaller companies. You don’t see much of the enterprise world where Copilot is used." Of course, Microsoft 365 Copilot subs don't mean everyone is using the AI tool; they could just be using all the productivity apps and cutting the assistant out of the equation. But Microsoft seems to believe that Copilot is doing just fine in big businesses.
