Designated spots notified in Tiruchi city for public meetings, agitations

MOORTHY The district administration has notified designated spots within Tiruchi City for political parties and other organisations to conduct agitations, street corner meetings, and public meetings. The list of such designated locations has been conveyed to the Tiruchi City Police Commissioner by the Tiruchi District Collector recently.The Tiruchi City Police, headed by the Commissioner of Police, has under its jurisdiction 14 police stations. According to the official communication, the number of designated spots for holding agitations and street corner meetings by political parties and other organisations is 40. These include Puthur four road; Kora street junction; Collectorate old office road; Illupur road, Kallukuzhi, Armoury gate, Four pillar mandapam at Tiruvanaikoil; Kooni bazaar-west; Geetha Nagar junction; North Ukkadai; Rail Nagar bus stop; Ragavendra arch; Marakkadai MGR statue; VOC Thidal Ponmalaipatti; Thennur Arasamarathadi and Pandamangalam Arasamarathadi. The number of designated spots for conducting public meetings are 29. These include G Corner railway ground; Uzhavar Santhai; Puthur Four Road junction; Illupur Road, Kallukuzhi; VOC Thidal, Ponmalaipatti; Ul Ariyamangalam Manthai; North Devi Street near EB office; Sarukkuparai; Keerakadai Bazaar, Tharanallur; Mannarpuram Military Ground; Four Pillar Mandapam, Thiruvanaikovil; Kooni Bazaar-West; Kora Street Junction and Keerakadai Bazaar, Tharanallur. A police press release said the designated spots were identified after a discussion between the Tiruchi City Police and the district administration. The designated spots were jointly identified by the police and the district administration.The spots were identified after taking into consideration the aspects that there should be no problem for law and order and no disturbance for public and vehicular movements. The release said political parties and other organisations and outfits should identify one of the designated spots for holding public meeting, conducting an agitation, and organising a street corner meeting.
