The proposed allocation is marginally higher than the agency’s P28.3 billion budget in 2026. P1.6 billion of the DENR’s proposed budget is for the National Greening Program (NGP), the government’s flagship reforestation project. In the implementation of the NGP, priority will be given to forest and landscape restoration in Sierra Madre. P1.3 billion is for management of sites legislated as protected areas. Manila Bay rehabilitation is allocated P1.3 billion in the proposal. The department’s clean water program, a component of flood management, gets P336 million.
