Democrats can’t win in court, so they’re trying to break it

The Supreme Court was never meant to adhere to the fleeting political whims of one party or another. When a Supreme Court decision goes against you, the answer should not be to add more justices until you get the answer you want.America’s Founding Fathers understood that an independent judiciary was essential to preserving our freedoms. That principle was embedded in the Constitution itself. Article III established the Supreme Court as the nation’s highest tribunal for cases and controversies arising under federal law. As the final arbiter of the law, the Court’s fundamental promise to the American people is to provide equal justice under law, independent of Congress or the White House.Congress has historically set the number of justices on the Supreme Court. The court started with six justices in 1789, expanded and contracted over the following decades, before settling at nine justices in 1869. That number of nine holds today, with the Supreme Court consisting of eight associate justices and one chief justice. More than 150 years later, that stability is under threat. There is a growing effort on the Left to put more justices on the Supreme Court when its decisions don’t produce the outcome they desire. These efforts to pack the Supreme Court with activist liberals would delegitimize and destroy one of the most important institutions in America.Republicans are actively fighting against this political manipulation. H.J. Res. 1 proposes an amendment to the Constitution to explicitly require that the Supreme Court of the United States be composed of nine justices. Rather than allowing a future Democratic Congress to change the size of the Court whenever it suits its interest, a constitutional amendment would provide a key safeguard against partisan court packing.The stakes become even clearer when we look at the ideological movement pushing sweeping changes to our way of life as we know it. Socialism, once viewed as a fringe ideology in American politics, has increasingly entered the mainstream of the modern Democratic Party. Recently, the House of Representatives passed H. Res. 1490, a resolution to condemn socialism in all its forms. That vote exposed the troubling reality that the vast majority of Democrats refused to denounce the radical ideology with a record of economic failure, political repression, destruction of individual liberties, and the deaths of over 100 million people worldwide.Look at the countries that have suffered under socialist and communist regimes. The USSR, Cambodia, and Maoist China all collapsed under its twisted and dangerous effects. We can even see today the people fleeing from failed and dangerous systems in North Korea, Venezuela, Cuba, and Vietnam.The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) have made their policies abundantly clear, and it’s no different than the socialism we have seen elsewhere. Their vision involves reshaping the judiciary so it’s more directly responsive to the political agenda of Congress. Once that precedent is established, there is no logical stopping point. The DSA will be able to implement every aspect of its radical agenda. That means defunding the police and military, opening our borders, closing our prisons, granting amnesty to illegal aliens, getting rid of the President, and culminating with total government control over every aspect of our nation. Their policies are fundamentally un-American and would completely erode our way of life as we know it.ELON MUSK IS RIGHT: HITLER WAS A SOCIALISTRepublicans continue to stand by and defend the Constitution and values that have made America the freest and most prosperous nation in the world. Part of that is ensuring our judicial system remains independent and fair. The Democrats’ desire to pack the Supreme Court would subvert the will of the American people and the structure of our constitutional republic. If we amend the Constitution to establish the number of justices at nine, we can ensure our justice system is free from such political coercion.We are in a battle for the soul of America. Protecting the integrity of our judiciary, our government, and Constitution is of paramount importance to the future of our country.
