With the IATA Winter Season from late October to late March now in full swing, Delta Air Lines is making a wide range of interesting route additions throughout its route network. Between now and Sunday, March 28, 2027, when the IATA Summer Season starts, the Atlanta-based US 'big three' legacy carrier and SkyTeam founding member will launch seven new routes, excluding its short-term CES additions. All of these corridors serve international destinations, and they are spread across six of the carrier's US hubs, according to schedule data from Cirium, an aviation analytics company. Some are short-haul while others serve long-haul destinations, but, in one way or another, they will all play an important role in Delta's forthcoming growth. Let's take a closer look at where and when they are launching. Los Angeles To Vancouver Will Launch First Credit: Markus Mainka | Shutterstock November will see one addition for Delta: the transborder link between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in the Canadian province of British Columbia. As of November 21, the carrier is set to serve this short-haul international route on a twice-daily basis, using Airbus A319s from its mainline fleet. Loading map… Drag to explore Delta has served this route on and off over the last two decades, with regional Delta Connection flights operating in 2007 and 2008. These services then returned from 2015 to 2018, during which time 2017 was the only year that Delta also flew mainline jets from Los Angeles to Vancouver. The West Coast hub has since become one of its most crucial bases, according to the carrier. "Delta is the only carrier at LAX serving all of the airport’s top 10 markets with multiple daily flights, giving customers greater choice and flexibility across the destinations they travel to most." Three More In December Credit: Karolis Kavolelis | Shutterstock Moving into December, three more new routes will join Delta's network. The longest is the corridor from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) in Tel Aviv, Israel. These flights are set to operate three times a week as of December 19, 2026, with the A350 being Delta's aircraft of choice. It previously served this route from 2006 to 2011 and in 2023. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) in Liberia, Costa Rica. In this instance, the carrier is set to use the A321neo, with these flights only running seasonally until May 2027. It previously served this route in 2008 and from 2013 to 2017 with mainline flights. The third and final Delta route launch on December 19 of this year links its hub at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) with Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA) in Oranjestad, Aruba. These weekly flights will also run seasonally until May of next year, with coverage split between the A321neo and the Boeing 737-900ER. Unlike the others, the carrier has never served this route before. A Trio Of March Debutants Credit: Joe A. Kunzler | Shutterstock Delta's winter additions keep coming right until the end of the season, with three more routes being added on March 27, the last day before the IATA Summer Season. These are all long-haul corridors, with the new route from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to Tokyo Narita Airport (NRT) in Japan clearly implemented to fight back against growing competition from Alaska Airlines in the Northwest. These flights will operate daily using the A330-900neo. Another daily addition with this aircraft type will be the new route from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) in Texas to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) in France. Elsewhere, March 27 is also currently set to be the launch date for Delta's thrice-weekly Atlanta-Riyadh (RUH) flights. However, these have sold poorly and have been delayed.
