Delta Is Poaching Allegiant Pilots — and Now Allegiant Is Cutting Flights

Sun Country is experiencing an uptick in pilot attrition out of Minneapolis-St. Paul following the closing of the Allegiant merger, with junior pilots leaving the ultra-low-cost carrier for Delta Air Lines. “Sun Country has experienced elevated pilot attrition, concentrated among its junior MSP pilots and largely driven by increased hiring at the largest carrier in the Twin Cities,” said Allegiant CEO Greg Anderson during a call with analysts on Tuesday, referring to Delta. Anderson said the airline would reduce off-peak flying out of the Twin Cities due to the attrition.
