Delhi techie, 31, beaten to death by in-laws after dispute with wife

A 31-year-old software engineer, Vinay Gupta, was beaten to death by his wife's relatives after a matrimonial dispute in Delhi's Nihal Vihar. His family has accused his wife and six-seven others of the attack, with four accused detained so far.The victim, Vinay Gupta, a resident of Laxmi Park, was married to a 31-year-old homemaker three and a half years ago. A 31-year-old software engineer was beaten to death by his wife’s relatives following a dispute in Delhi’s Nihal Vihar area, with the victim's family accusing his wife and six to seven others of carrying out the attack.The victim, Vinay Gupta, a resident of Laxmi Park, was married to a 31-year-old homemaker three and a half years ago. The couple has twin children, a boy and a girl, aged around four and a half months.A matrimonial dispute broke out between Vinay Gupta and his wife on Saturday morning. Following the dispute, his wife called members of her parental family, who reached the couple’s residence in Nihal Vihar.Upon reaching the house, the wife’s family members assaulted Vinay severely. He later succumbed to injuries sustained in the assault. Gupta's mother had gone to arrange water and refreshments for the visitors when the alleged assault began, the family claimed. When she returned, she found her son being beaten and tried to intervene. The family alleged that she shouted for help and pleaded with the attackers to spare her son, but the assault continued.Afterwards, Gupta was rushed to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. His father mentioned that the couple had been experiencing disputes over minor issues for some time, and the family had hoped to resolve the matter through discussion. Unfortunately, the situation escalated into violence. The deceased’s family has alleged that his wife and six to seven others were involved in the incident.The police are investigating the matter. A forensic team also reached the spot and collected evidence from the scene.Four alleged persons have been identified and detained in connection with the incident.A case under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) is being registered in connection with the incident.Vinay Gupta was employed as a software engineer with Adobe in Noida.
