Delhi: Retired teacher, 70, murdered during robbery in Jangpura, suspects detained

One suspect, according to sources, allegedly led a lavish lifestyle and frequently stayed in hotels. Police have apprehended him and are questioning him while carrying out raids to recover the stolen valuables. However, the case had not been officially solved by Sunday.Several police teams have been deployed to investigate the murder. Officers have been continuously scanning CCTV footage from the area and questioning people who may have had access to Kumar's home. Kumar, who lived alone, had retired from a private school and later joined an NGO involved in social work. She reportedly handled patient registration at the NGO's dispensary.WORKERS QUESTIONED OVER RECENT REPAIRSPolice are also investigating recent work carried out at Kumar's home.Around 15 days before the incident, repairs were reportedly undertaken on the windows and doors of her house, along with some furniture work. The workers involved in these jobs have also been questioned as part of the investigation.Investigators are examining whether the person or persons involved in the crime were familiar with the house and Kumar. One of the lines of inquiry is based on reports that the latch on her door was loose, making it easier to open.Even 48 hours after the incident, police had not publicly confirmed the identity of any accused or announced a breakthrough.WOMAN'S HANDS WERE TIED, VALUABLES STOLENConflicting details have emerged about the sequence of events leading to Kumar's death.Kumar's hands were tied during the crime. It is alleged that the perpetrators first latched on the doors of neighbouring houses from outside to prevent residents from coming out before entering Kumar's home.They allegedly began stealing valuables from the house.
