Delhi Police nab 'Mr Natwarlal' with 25 cases, multiple identities and a fake VIP act

Police arrested a man accused of posing as a prominent leader's husband to cheat a Dwarka businessman. (Photo: ITG)New Delhi,Sep 28, 2026 17:54 ISTDelhi Police have arrested a man with 25 criminal cases against him who allegedly changed identities, posed as the husband of a prominent leader and used an Ashoka emblem on WhatsApp to convince a businessman to transfer money.The accused, identified as Bhalinder Pal Singh alias Bhalinder Singh, GS Baki and Jasraj Sehgal, was arrested following a complaint by Inder Singh Nagpal, owner of Glacier Holidays Private Limited in Dwarka's Sector 6.POSED AS 'PROMINENT LEADER'S HUSBAND'According to police, the accused called Nagpal and introduced himself as the husband of a prominent leader. He allegedly claimed that a student's fee needed to be paid urgently as the person responsible for the payment was on leave, promising that the money would be reimbursed through the office.Trusting the claim, Nagpal transferred Rs 1,69,389 to bank accounts provided by the accused. He also booked an Air India flight from Delhi to Lucknow. The accused allegedly reinforced his claim of influence by using a WhatsApp account with the Ashoka emblem as his profile picture.120 HOUSES TRACED TO FIND ONE MANDuring the investigation, police found that the WhatsApp account had been created using a SIM card obtained with a fake ID and an incomplete address in Gurugram's Sector 43. After tracing the IP address, police zeroed in on around 120 houses before identifying the accused, who was living under the name Jasraj Sehgal.Two Aadhaar cards bearing the same number were also recovered from his possession. Police said his actual identity was established as Bhalinder Pal Singh.25 CASES, FOUR PROCLAIMED OFFENDER CASESPolice said Singh has been involved in 24 previous cases of cheating, extortion, impersonation and offences under the Prison Act. He had also been declared a proclaimed offender in four cases, while non-bailable warrants had been issued against him in four others.The mobile phone used for the WhatsApp account bearing the Ashoka emblem was recovered.Police also seized a Scorpio-N allegedly used to create an impression of being an influential person. The vehicle had been rented using a fake driving licence and Aadhaar card in the name of Aditya Patel.The accused has been sent to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway to identify other people allegedly cheated by him.- Ends
