Delhi opens EWS admissions for vacant private school seats in Classes 2-9

The Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) has opened the online application process for vacant Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Freeship category seats in private unaided recognised schools for the 2026-27 academic session.The admission process covers vacant seats from Class 2 to Class 9 in eligible private schools built on government-allotted land.According to the circular issued by the Directorate of Education, Private School Branch, parents can submit applications online from September 8 to September 20, 2026. The successful applicants will be selected through a computerised draw of lots on September 24.APPLICATION WINDOW IS NOW OPENParents seeking admission for their children can register online through the designated EWS admission portal or the Delhi Directorate of Education website. The draw of lots will determine admissions after the application window closes. Parents therefore need to complete their applications within the specified dates and ensure that the information submitted is accurate.WHO CAN APPLY?For the EWS category, the child’s family must have a valid income certificate showing an annual income of less than Rs 5 lakh from all sources. The income certificate must have been issued by the Revenue Department of the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi before the application deadline. Valid BPL or Food Security cards can also be accepted under the specified rules.The child must also be a resident of Delhi, with valid address proof required during the admission process.ONE APPLICATION, NO DUPLICATESThe DoE has laid down several rules for the registration process.Only one registration is permitted per mobile number. Duplicate applications can lead to cancellation.Children who have already availed EWS benefits in the relevant classes are not eligible to apply again.Parents also need to check the age requirement carefully.
