Delhi minister claims financial irregularities under Kejriwal govt, cites CAG report

He also alleged that several CAG reports had not been tabled in the Assembly earlier."After the CAG report, we can say Arvind Kejriwal flouted rules, floated 1,185 manual tenders and inserted arbitration clauses in tenders, indulging in large-scale irregularities and looting of public money," Singh alleged. A CAG report on the finances of various Delhi government departments between 2019 and 2023 was tabled in the Assembly by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday.Calling the report a written document of the "corruption" under the Arvind Kejriwal government, Singh said the BJP government had, over the past 18 months, released 24 such reports that were not tabled in the Assembly earlier. Citing the report, he said around Rs 70,410 crore in tax revenue was outstanding against some businesses. He alleged that the GST department, in collusion with certain industrialists and business owners, allowed these GST liabilities to remain pending. Singh also claimed that despite the cancellation of GST registrations of 8,334 businesses, they continued to generate e-way bills for the transport of goods. He said the CAG report states that "bogus" e-way bills worth Rs 68,680 crore were generated. He further said that out of 6.10 crore e-way bills, only 0.1 per cent were examined. According to him, an investigation into 70 cases found 344 instances of non-compliance, involving a revenue impact of Rs 3,071.92 crore, while a turnover mismatch of Rs 3,710.17 crore was also detected.The minister also accused the previous AAP government of irregularities in other departments. He said that under the electricity subsidy scheme, 50,000 consumers whose electricity bills remained zero for 12 consecutive months were given subsidies of Rs 17.81 crore, causing a loss to the exchequer. He further alleged that around 90,000 consumers who had not been living in their homes for six to 11 months received electricity subsidies worth Rs 11.88 crore. Singh said a total of Rs 42 crore had been released in the name of power subsidies in such cases and that the matter would be investigated.No immediate reaction was available from the Aam Aadmi Party over the allegations.
