Delhi Mayor orders strict action over negligence in stray dog care at Lajpat Nagar

He issued instructions on waste management, maintenance of fixed compactors, sanitation works and removal of encroachments at multiple locations.According to a statement, the mayor found that several dogs at the Lajpat Nagar centre were not receiving proper care. He directed the commissioner to take action against those responsible and to ensure that the centre has adequate resources for the treatment and care of the animals. "No negligence in the care and treatment of stray dogs will be tolerated," Wahi said, according to the statement.At Vijay Camp, Wahi reviewed the construction of a Fixed Compactor Transfer Station and asked officials to install the compactor at the earliest. He also directed officials to complete sanitation-related development works in Lajpat Nagar by September and ordered the cleaning of garbage collection points that had been shut after waste collection was shifted to fixed compactor stations. He inspected another fixed compactor near the parking area at Lajpat Nagar Central Market and directed officials to make it operational at the earliest. In Jangpura, he reviewed the fixed compactor installed there and stressed the need for proper maintenance. He also directed officials to launch a drive against encroachments on public roads and other spaces.The mayor later visited Nizamuddin and asked officials to deploy additional sanitation staff and resources at Neela Gumbad Chowk. He also ordered the removal of encroachments from public land.Wahi asked councillors to keep a close watch on their respective areas and involve residents in efforts to improve cleanliness. The inspection was attended by South East zonal chairperson Neetu Chaudhary, councillor Arjun Marwah, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta, Engineer-in-Chief KK Sharma and other senior officials.Khirwar directed officials to remain in the field, address local problems promptly and ensure that pending works are completed on time and to the required standards.
