Delhi Mango Festival showcases BrahMos variety inspired by Operation Sindoor

A mango variety named BrahMos, inspired by the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile's role in Operation Sindoor, was unveiled at a mango festival in the national capital. The event brought together senior military officers, defence officials and mango growers.Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Vice Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, former Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria and BrahMos Aerospace CEO Dr Jaiteerth R Joshi attended the event. The guests sampled different mango varieties and interacted with growers. They also discussed contemporary national issues.The exhibition featured 16 mango varieties from across the country, including Dussehri, Langda, Chausa, Amrapali, Mallika, Rataul, Ram Kela, Jafrani, Love-e-Mashook, Dinga Desi, Gulab Khas, Kalmi, Zalim Anda, Gulab Jamun, Hasan Ara and Sukha Matiyar.'BRAHMOS INSPIRED BY THE MISSILE'Mango grower Asad Khan, who showcased the collection, said the newly named BrahMos mango was inspired by the BrahMos missile's contribution during Operation Sindoor. He said he was pleased to present the variety in the presence of Dr Joshi, CEO and Managing Director of BrahMos Aerospace. Khan said the exhibition was organised by the GBR Memorial Foundation of India, which regularly hosts such events to bring together people from different walks of life through cultural and agricultural initiatives.General Chauhan and his wife, Anupama Chauhan, interacted with exhibitors to learn about the characteristics of the different mango varieties and sampled several of them. Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and his wife, Sarita Singh, also visited the exhibition and appreciated the diversity of the mango collection.
