Delhi High Court pulls up Kala Hiran makers, orders removal of film's links

The Delhi High Court has directed the removal of social media links related to the film Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy from X and YouTube, while also strongly rebuking the film's producer, Amit Jani. The matter came up in a petition filed by Salman Khan against the film.During the hearing, the court made sharp remarks over Jani's conduct, while both sides set out their arguments on whether the teaser violated Salman Khan's personality rights and referred to the blackbuck-related cases linked to the actor.Addressing Jani's counsel, the High Court remarked, "Your audacity seems to have increased because no order was passed the last time."It further observed, "You seem to think you are above the law. Your conduct is getting worse by the day. You cannot treat even an ordinary citizen in this manner." In response, Amit Jani's lawyer said the material in question was "only a teaser" and questioned how it violated Salman Khan's personality rights. "I am not even taking his name," the counsel submitted. The lawyer also argued that the teaser did not contain any deepfake or AI-generated content, and said that "there is no protection over events or public appearances."Appearing for Salman Khan, his counsel argued that, out of the four blackbuck-related cases, Salman had been acquitted in three, while the sentence in the fourth case had been stayed. The counsel also alleged that the film was attempting to turn an entire community against the actor. The matter stems from Salman Khan's petition before the Delhi High Court against Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy. The court has now directed that links to the film on X and YouTube be removed, while the legal challenge to the film remains under consideration.
