Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) was quietly devastated in Coronation Street today as she was given another reminder that her dementia is taking hold. The character received her diagnosis back in April 2025. In spite of her condition, Debbie has continued to do her job as as owner and manager of the prestigious Chariot Square hotel. She’s also sung in the dementia choir, and adores hanging out with pals Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor), Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger), Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) and Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins). As much as Debbie is trying to live her normal life, there’s no getting away from the fact as time goes on, that life is slipping away from her. The situation prompted Debbie to start researching assisted dying. Bernie discovered what Debbie was up to, and tried to change her mind by sharing how Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) felt about the subject. Her efforts weren’t enough, unfortunately, as Debbie told Bernie that she intends to speak with Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) about her thoughts when the time is right.
