DDP believes Cody Rhodes and The Rock WILL clash in WWE and names ‘pound for pound’ best wrestler today

DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE is a WWE Hall of Famer and one of the cornerstones of WCW’s peak in the late 1990s. These days, while he still likes to entertain people, he likes to help them more. DDP is still in fantastic shape at age 70 But he had an iconic in-ring career too where he won three world titles DDP Yoga (DDPY for short) has helped many people all around the world, including a raft of wrestlers past and present. In fact, DDP was the very first pro wrestler ITR ever did a Q&A with on stage and now he is returning to do shows in the UK. SunSport caught up with the former three-time world champion to discuss the wrestling landscape today and his venture into Europe. How has DDPY been growing and how has it been helping people? It seems like your biggest thrill. “We’ve near on 15 years now that we’ve been doing this successfully and the UK is our second biggest group of people who get the program and we have students from all over. “It was all about mind and body wellness and that’s the thing I really focus on – your breath. It’ll help us, when you own your breath. It’s literally like having a superpower, it really is. “If you own your own breath and discipline, you can do anything and that’s really what I teach. “Because when you really find discipline and you own it, it’s another superpower, but the real thing it gives you more than anything is the No1 aphrodisiac in the world – and that’s confidence.” What do you make of the new wave of talent making its way in WWE now? Names like Bron Breakker, Oba Femi, Trick Williams etc. “With Bron, you just knew that this kid is special. All of the Steiner cousins, Rick and Scotty, live 30 minutes from me. “And I’ve had Brock (Scott Steiner’s son), who now has an NIL deal, right now he’s with New Orleans in the NFL and he ain’t got cut yet, they like him. So I could see Brock having a five to eight-year run or more in the NFL and then coming over. I could see that happening. “This is the genetic freak of the genetic freak because his mum is a superhero too, like super athlete, but his brother, his younger brother, is playing now. I think he played at Colorado State. He was all-state point guard here in Georgia. “So that’s the pedigree and genetics. I was just on the phone with Bron Breakker two hours ago. We’re all super tight, and they understand what a lot of the older generation found hard to understand that you need something like DDYoga in your toolbox. Bron Breakker stands face to face with Oba Femi Trick Williams has worked out with DDP and the pair know each other well “These guys are the most polite young men that work their asses off because both their dads wouldn’t have that any other way, you know. “He’s a runaway train. Even Goldberg, I don’t think he spears the way Bron Breakker spears. It’s the velocity of speed that he’s hitting you with and flipping so he doesn’t kill you. “With Trick Williams, as soon as I saw him, I said ‘Trick Williams is Muhammad Ali as a wrestler’. A true athlete. “He was talking s*** coming out of the womb! But another super respectful guy, and that’s really how you differentiate guys in the business. “How do you treat other people? Trick, he was a class act from A to Z and came in when I came down, was doing LFG and did some workouts with everyone. Trick was right there. I had said some things over the years about what I thought of him and he had gotten a hold of me and thanked me. “I’m not going to bury anybody and say that they don’t have it, because who the hell am I to ever say that to anybody? But, I will really talk up the guys who do. “So those two guys right there, and then, of course, the big guy [Oba Femi]. Oh my God, what a beast he is! I like what they’re doing with Bran Pillman Jr, too. Lexis King has a bright future.” It’s a shame Bron and Seth Rollins didn’t get to have their match at WrestleMania… “Seth Rollins is, pound for pound, the best worker in the business. “I’ve said it many times as well. But I was so bummed for him and not just for him and his family, that he couldn’t do the original plan with Bron and The Vision. “On Unreal, you can see the journey Seth and Becky went on. If Seth snapped his fingers, he could be one of the top three babyfaces in the in the company immediately.” What are your thoughts on Cody Rhodes‘ success in WWE, and will we ever get that match with The Rock? “For a ways out they were talking about him taking it from Roman [Reigns] the first time. “And I said, he understands it, but I said, don’t ever think it, bro, until you’re walking down towards the ring, until you know they’re not going to run up behind you and change the finish… you know, a lot of people were in his ear. “And I was just like ‘bro, is it really that big a deal if you don’t go over this time?’ And he goes ‘I knew you were gonna say that.’ And he said ‘but what if we lose momentum?’ “I said ‘what if you don’t?’ And that’s what happened. It went off a little bit, and then it looked like Rock might take that spot, and then that’s where the fans really stepped up. DDP has remained in Cody Rhodes’ inner circle having known him since he was a child Cody Rhodes and The Rock seemed to be a WrestleMania match in the making, but it is yet to happen “The Rock is one of the smartest businessmen in the world. He’s worth close to a billion dollars.
