DC’s Robin Movie Officially Delayed and Reveals an All-Star Cast

The bad news is that the film has been delayed, if only briefly. The good news is that Warner Bros. has announced the movie's main cast, which will star some huge names like Steve Buscemi. As reported by Deadline, Dynamic Duo will be moving from its original Jun. 30, 2028 release date to Sept. 22, 2028. As far as delays go, that isn't too bad. There are apparently two reasons for the date change. The first is that Warner Bros. wants to position the animated feature as a back-to-school film aimed at teens and college audiences. The other reason is that Paramount, with which Warner Bros. is currently in the midst of a merger, is set to release the Call of Duty movie on Jun. 30, 2028 whereas it has no releases currently slated for Sept. 22. Dynamic Duo wasn't the only movie to get pushed, as the next Gremlins movie has been kicked from 2027 into 2028. On to the good news. The InSneider has reported that Warner Bros. has found its Dynamic Duo stars. The film will star Mason Thames (How to Train Your Dragon) as Dick Grayson, Logan Kim (Ghostbusters: Afterlife) as Jason Todd, Marsai Martin (G20) as Barbara Gordon, Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies, Guardians of the Galaxy) as Red Hood 1, and Steve Buscemi (Fargo, Reservoir Dogs) as Red Hood 2. The InSneider also claims that Chris Pine has been offered the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Will Dynamic Duo be canon to James Gunn's DCU? Image: Warner Bros. Gunn, the architect of the new DC Universe of film and television projects, has confirmed that Dynamic Duo does not take place in his canon. It will likely be categorized as an Elseworlds story instead, meaning it is a stand-alone story. The future of Batman in the DCU is a big question right now, with no apparent plans to integrate Robert Pattinson's iteration into Gunn's universe. Gunn plans on introducing his version of Batman with The Brave and the Bold, but that film has no solid information at the moment. Dynamic Duo will follow the origins of Dick Grayson, the first Robin, and Jason Todd, the second character to take on the mantle. The film is directed by Arthur Mintz from a script by Matthew Aldrich (Coco, Lightyear). Rather than traditional animation, the film will use a combination of miniatures, puppetry, animatronics, models, and CGI.
