DC Officially Announces New Justice League Roster, All Members and Powers

There's a new Justice League in town, as DC introduces a mythic team with a jaw-dropping reason to exist. Here's every member of the new 'Justice League of Mount Everest,' what they can do, and why they're gathering together under the leadership of the Green Arrow. First forming in 1960 to bring down the mind-controlling alien Starro, the Justice League have become legends the world over, with iconic members Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Green Lantern and the Flash forming the ultimate pantheon of superheroes. However, the latest iteration of the team have formed not to work alongside one of those legendary heroes, but to bring them down, as a new superpower turns allies into enemies. DC Unleashes the Justice League of Mount Everest A Team Dedicated to Curbing Flash's New Superpower The Justice League of Mount Everest just formed in The Flash #36, from Ryan North, Gavin Guidry, Adriano Lucas and Buddy Beaudoin. The issue sees Flash continue to experiment with his new power, known as 'Flashes of Insight.' By using superspeed to travel across his home city, Flash is able to gather so much information that he can instinctually predict upcoming crimes and accidents. Having wiped out all crime and threats to life in Central City, Flash expands his field of data collection to Superman's Metropolis and then Green Arrow's Star City. However, Oliver Queen isn't impressed with the ability, claiming that Flash is carrying out fascistic mass surveillance. As the issue ends, Ollie summons a new Justice League roster to address the issue of the Flash. The comic explicitly refers to this new team as the "Justice League of Mount Everest", with art for upcoming issues confirming that Flash will go up against this new team in a series of battles. Here's every member of the Justice League roster about to go up against the Flash, and the abilities they could use against his immense speed. Green Arrow, aka Oliver Queen Like Batman, Oliver Queen is a normal human who has trained himself to the peak of physical excellence. A world-class athlete and the greatest marksman on Earth, even Batman admits Green Arrow is his superior in a few areas, including reaction time, aim and grip strength, which the Dark Knight claims "borders on the superhuman." Ollie is also a billionaire tactician with access to unique gadgetry and a long list of superhero contacts. It seems Ollie will be the one leading the mission to stop Flash, seeing his new power as both invasive and reckless, with Sean Izaakse's variant cover for The Flash #39 showing them fighting one-on-one. His first move of assembling a team on Mount Everest - the place Flash is least likely to coincidentally encounter them while sprinting across the world - shows he's already thinking like an anti-speedster. Red Tornado, aka John Smith An advanced android who can turn himself into a living whirlwind, Red Tornado has been coordinating the Justice League's expanded roster in recent comics. His incredible brain may make him the one person on Earth who can think fast enough to match the Flash. Aquaman, aka Arthur Curry Incredibly strong and durable, Aquaman has undergone a godlike transformation in the recent Emperor Aquaman, gaining essentially total control of water as the new Avatar of the Blue. Aquaman recently beat down the ocean god Poseidon, transforming an entire water planet into steam before freezing it into "a torrent of razors and ice." He's also demonstrated the ability to incapacitate his enemies by controlling their blood, making him easily the biggest threat to Flash on this team. Flash #36 seemingly sets this story firmly during the 'Batman: Bad Seeds' event, suggesting Aquaman should be at the height of his powers while going up against Flash. Superman, aka John Kent The son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, Jon Kent has all the traditional Kryptonian powers (superstrength, superspeed, heat vision, enhanced senses) as well as some of his own, including the ability to guide his heat vision, explode it like a grenade, and adopt an electric energy form. Despite his speed, Jon still isn't anywhere near as fast as the Flash, but his ability to rapidly affect the environment could make him a useful member of the team, able to freeze, melt and otherwise obliterate the ground under Wally's feet. Wonder Woman, aka Diana Prince The ultimate warrior, Wonder Woman is a demigod with an enhanced physique, wielding the Lasso of Truth. Diana's powers aren't a particular match for Flash's speed, but her tactical mind is likely to be a major asset, and she's the person most likely to be able to persuade Wally to see the new League's point of view. Martian Manhunter, aka J'onn J'onzz One of the most powerful heroes in DC lore and the heart of the Justice League, the Martian Manhunter has incredible superstrength, intangibility, shapeshifting, telepathy, heat vision and more. Martian Manhunter is the superhero who Superman himself is most scared to fight, and his ability to attack Flash's mind makes him perhaps the most likely to be effective in direct combat against Wally (depending on whether Aquaman has his full powerset.) Flash vs the Justice League of Mount Everest Starts September The Justice League of Mount Everest aren't some lingering threat who'll return at an unknown time in the future. The next three issues at least will see Wally go up against Green Arrow's team, as he attempts to expand the area of his 'Flashes of Insight' and they attempt to stop him, with lives seemingly lost in the process. The summary for Flash #38 reveals that Wally's new power will fail to predict a coordinated attack on bridges across America, while #39 promises some kind of interactive story where the reader will make key choices: THE JUSTICE LEAGUE VS. THE FLASH?! The Justice League wants the Flash to stop fighting crimes that haven't happened yet. The Flash wants to keep doing that because he's saving people. You can see how they're at an impasse. But when the league tries to shut this new crime-fighting tactic down, Wally doesn't take kindly to the intrusion. It's the League versus the Flash - and Wally needs your help to win! Plus, a new villain is revealed. Green Arrow's new Justice League of Mount Everest are taking on the Flash, as Wally West's new superpower puts him on the wrong side of a group of heroes who think he's gone too far. The Flash #36 is coming August 26, with #37 coming September 23.
