D.C. Officer Dies After Allegedly Shooting Self in Police Station

A Metropolitan Police Department officer died Monday after a reported 5 a.m. shooting in the police station in which no one else was involved. WSUA9 reported the “officer was brought to George Washington University Hospital,” but succumbed to the wounds. NBC Washington noted that after a preliminary investigation, “Nothing indicated any other person was involved in the officer’s injuries.” It remains unclear if the shooting was intentional. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) responded to the news with an X post: The incident is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Internal Affairs Bureau.
