Davis's Ransom Canyon Season 2 Exit Detailed By Josh Duhamel

Eoin Macken's character played a major role throughout season 1, with Davis ultimately betraying Staten in the finale after appearing to call a truce. While Davis' exit leaves a notable hole in the series heading into season 2, Josh Duhamel believes it also clears the way for Staten to finally pursue the future he's always wanted with Quinn O'Grady. In an interview with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley, Duhamel was asked how his character feels about Davis no longer being part of the picture after the complicated relationship they shared in season 1. The actor explained that Staten isn't losing a wink of sleep over the fallout. Josh Duhamel: "I think he's happy to see him go, to be honest. I think that it was that he didn't trust him. It was one of those things where he thought that he had sort of an alliance with him after years of sort of being on the opposite side of the fence. I don't think Staten's missing him in any kind of way. And if anything, I think it cleared the canvas for him to finally properly go after Quinn and pursue the relationship that he's always wanted." Season 1 ended with Davis betraying Staten after secretly aligning himself with Stanley Kirkland in an attempt to challenge Staten's control of the Double K Ranch. After intentionally provoking Staten into throwing a punch, Davis created evidence that could be used to question whether Staten was fit to lead, setting up a major conflict before Macken exited the series as a regular. With Davis no longer standing in the way, Crowley asked Duhamel whether Staten now views Quinn as a bigger priority than protecting the Double K Ranch. While the actor acknowledged how important the ranch remains, he said Staten's motivations have evolved following the devastating losses that shaped his life. Josh Duhamel: "Yeah. Yeah. I think that it's all together. I think what it is, honestly, is that after he lost his wife and his son, you build these things for your family. You build them to pass on. There's a purpose behind it all. And when they were gone, he didn't have a lot of purpose stuff. He just had this big ranch he had to take care of. It's the only thing he's ever known, but he has nobody to really share it with anymore. I think that that's really what he wants to do with Quinn. Yes, the ranch is important, but she's also the most important thing to him, and I think that he wants it all to sort of coexist. Maybe we have a baby. We should have a baby. Somebody to pass this thing on to." If Davis' departure truly "cleared the canvas," as Duhamel puts it, Quinn may finally become the center of Staten's story rather than another casualty of the ranch's conflicts. Especially as Ransom Canyon's sophomore season has already been called "sexier and steamier" than the first.
