David Hyde Pierce, Ayo Edebiri, Danielle Brooks & Jin Ha have joined the cast of Encores! upcoming You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown musical revival this February. The 2027 Encores! series kicks off February 3-14 with You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, featuring music, lyrics, and book by Clark Gesner, based on the the Peanuts comic strip by Charles M. Schulz. Sam Pinkleton directs this fresh revival, with choreography by Sunny Min- Sook Hitt and music direction by Meghann Zervoulis Bate. The castings, announced by New York City Center today, will see Pierce portraying the put-upon blockhead Charlie Brown and Edebiri as his loyal if irreverent beagle Snoopy. Brooks will play Lucy and Ha will be Linus. Pierce is best known for his Emmy Award-winning performance in Frasier and Broadway turns in Pirates! The Penzance Musical, Hello, Dolly!, and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Edebiri is an Emmy-winning for her work on The Bear and recently made her Broadway debut in Proof. Other credits include Bottoms, Inside Out 2, and After the Hunt. Watch on Deadline Brooks rose to fame as Taystee in the Netflix hit Orange is the New Black. She earned a Tony nomination for her role as Sofia in the 2015 revival of The Color Purple, where she went on to also earn an Oscar nomination for the 2023 film adaptation. Charlie Brown marks her return to the stage after her award-nominated run in the 2022 production of The Piano Lesson. Ha returns to City Center following the Encores! Off-Center production of Road Show. Stage credits include Hamilton, Here We Are, M. Butterfly, and the revival of Proof co-starring Edebiri. Ha can be seen onscreen in Pachinko, Only Murders in the Building, Love Life, DEVS, Jesus Christ Superstar: Live in Concert, Sugar, and Civil War.
