David Fincher Ending Overall Deal At Netflix

Three-time Oscar nominated filmmaker David Fincher has decided not to renew his deal at Netflix, we’ve confirmed. The deal expires next year. From what we understand, Fincher didn’t want to be attached to any particular deal. He’s not necessarily taking a hike anywhere, and could be in business with Netflix again in the near future. Fincher has been at Netflix since they blasted off as a streamer, executive producing and directing 7x Emmy-winning series House of Cards. In 2020, he inked an exclusive pact with Netflix after helming Mank there. He went on to direct hitman movie The Killer starring Michael Fassbender as well as the Quentin Tarantino written Once Upon a Time In Hollywood sequel, The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, which is hitting Imax theaters on Nov. 25 for a two-week run. Fincher was also an EP, showrunner and director on the Joe Penhall created Netflix series Mindhunters which streamed for two seasons. Watch on Deadline Fincher is the latest talent to depart the streamer after a storied run, read Stranger Things the Duffer Brothers went to Paramount, Noah Baumbach headed to Warner Bros, and Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps departed for Disney after their nine-year tenure. The last feature film of Fincher’s that received a wide theatrical release was 2014’s Gone Girl which grossed $370.8M at the global box office.
