Having previously voiced Thor in Santa Monica Studios' 2022 sequel, God of War: Ragnarök, the Sons of Anarchy star brought experience with the world of the PlayStation juggernaut to the table for Ronald D. Moore's take on the Norse mythology-focused modern titles. Fortunately, the production didn't let the injury keep things down for long. A towering replacement for the Dad of War was quickly found in the form of Dave Bautista, and a mid-October date was set to restart shooting. It won't be the first time this year the WWE Hall of Famer has collaborated with Amazon MGM Studios. In January, Bautista got to share the screen with his Dune co-star Jason Momoa in the Prime Video buddy action-comedy they'd long been planning — The Wrecking Crew. Directed by Blue Beetle helmer Ángel Manuel Soto and penned by Jonathan Tropper of Your Friends and Neighbors fame, the wild ride begins in the aftermath of the murder of private investigator Walter Hale. His death reluctantly reunites his sons, estranged half-brothers James (Bautista) and Jonny (Momoa), in Hawaii for the funeral, where both begin digging into the mysterious circumstances of his demise and find a mess of secrets, a powerful conspiracy involving the Yakuza, corrupt officials, and a real threat to their family. It was a major success upon release, with Nielsen later ranking it as the fourth most-viewed film during the Dec. 29, 2025 to June 28, 2026, reported period, with over 2.95 billion views. Following the news that Bautista would soon journey to the highest peaks in the Nine Realms, viewers appear to be flocking back to the high-octane adventure. Prime Video released its global rankings for the week of August 17, revealing The Wrecking Crew ranked in seventh, ahead of the Brazilian international original Beast Race, but a step behind Alan Ritchson and Kevin James' comedic Playdate. It's nowhere close to catching juggernauts like the new Masters of the Universe or The Devil's Mouth, but considering their team-up was released at the start of the year, it's nonetheless an impressive display of their staying power and ability to wreck the competition.
