Date set for inquest into Oasis fan who fell to his death from balcony at Wembley gig

See more Daily Mail on Google - save us as a Preferred Source Published: 11:45 EDT, 16 September 2026 | Updated: 11:45 EDT, 16 September 2026 The death of an Oasis fan who died at a sold-out Wembley gig after falling from a balcony will be examined at a full inquest next year.Landscape gardener Lee Claydon, 45, of Bournemouth, Dorset, died from 'multiple bodily injuries' after the fall on August 2 last year.It was one of seven dates Oasis played at the stadium during their blockbuster Live '25 reunion tour - their first since splitting in 2009 due to tensions between Liam and Noel.During a brief pre-inquest review hearing at Barnet Coroner's Court on Wednesday, senior coroner Andrew Walker said the full inquest hearing would take place over two weeks from February 15.However, if witnesses are unavailable during that period, the hearing could instead start on March 1, it was heard.At a hearing earlier this year, the coroner raised concerns over the safety of barriers and ordered a report examining their design, height and placement.It is understood the barrier over which he fell was 1.1 metres high. The Metropolitan Police completed their investigation into the gardener's death in November last year, ruling out the possibility of suicide or third-party involvement, saying Mr Claydon's death was a 'tragic accident'. The inquest opening, in September last year, heard Mr Claydon was taken to a medical centre in Wembley after the fall, where he was pronounced dead at 10.38pm.A post-mortem examination on August 6 last year gave the preliminary medical cause of death as 'multiple bodily injuries'.Oasis previously said they were 'shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show'.They extended their 'sincere condolences to the family and friends' of Mr Claydon.The victim's father Clive Claydon, 75, previously said: 'He was a lovely bloke, loved to be with his family - a hard-working family man, he loved his kids, looked after them really well.'He had everything going for him. I am so devastated, I have been to the doctor for tablets and everything to get over it.'Following his death, tributes poured in with Mr Claydon's brother Aaron describing him as 'the man I have always looked up to'.One eyewitness to the fall told the Daily Mail they heard screams and shouts after Mr Claydon plunged downwards.They said: 'It was horrendous. The guy fell from a balcony. Paramedics came rushing over. There was a lot of screaming and shouting.'It was a big fall. God knows how it happened. It was so tragic. I don't know how on earth it happened.'It was heartbreaking. He was only young.'Another fan witnessed paramedics trying to revive Mr Claydon after he had hit the concrete floor.They told The Sun they first thought a coat was falling from above until they looked over.'I was directly underneath in section 211. At first glance I thought it was a coat falling from the above tier but then I looked and saw the bloke on the concrete. It was horrific to see,' they said.
