Darts icon Raymond van Barneveld BANNED for three months and fined over X-rated outburst and damaging hotel room in rage

RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD has been slapped with a suspended three-month ban relating to his conduct at a Players Championship event last year. The five-time world champion, 59, was one of several star names to be included in the Darts Regulation Authority’s latest case list. Five-time World Champion Van Barneveld was accused of “Inappropriate behaviour and using offensive language” during a Players Championship 2 event in Wigan last February. Sign up for the Sport newsletter Thank you! The Dutchman was subsequently handed a £3,000 fine for the offence, in addition to a three-month suspension. His ban, however, will be suspended for 12 months. Van Barneveld was also handed a formal warning for conduct at a Players Championship event in Germany. This was for allegedly “failing to report damage caused to hotel room”. The world No40 was most recently in action at the Players Championship 26 in Hillesheim. He won three matches before his run was ended by Damon Heta 6-2.
