While the streaming service has received a great deal of recognition for science-fiction shows like Severance, Silo, and Pluribus, the adaptation of Blake Crouch's novel Dark Matter has flown more under the radar. Nevertheless, season 1 was well-received by critics and audiences, and the series was renewed for a second season, which takes the story beyond the existing source material. During Apple TV's panel at San Diego Comic-Con, where ScreenRant's Brennan Klein was in attendance, a Dark Matter season 2 trailer was released. It begins with a new character, played by Invincible star Chris Diamantopoulos, throwing a ball against the wall inside a glass box and interrogating Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton).
