Mette Frederiksen shared a screenshot of an unsolicited direct message she received on Instagram from a male plastic surgeon. She said he got in contact to offer his services to 'fix that little spot on your nose'.The Danish PM, one of the longest serving heads-of-government in Europe, curtly responded: 'Oh no. I'm happy with my body and don't really need a male plastic surgeon to have an opinion on it.'Sharing the screenshot to social media, she wrote that she had received the message as she was returning from Ukraine. Frederiksen, the second woman to hold the top political post in Denmark, wrote: 'I can't tell you how many messages I've received over the years about my appearance. Especially that I have ugly teeth and thin hair. That I have an ugly "wart" on my nose and... to get a round of Botox.'I don't interfere in what others do with their appearance. I [am] fine with my body. As it is now, when you are a woman and approaching 50.'And then I still get a little old-fashioned indignant. If you have to write to me (and you are very welcome to do so), then I hope you will spend your time on something more important. Not on my nose.' He said at just 13 years of age, she suffered a blow to her face while defending a group of Arab refugees from Greenjackets – an organised group of racist youths who came from Copenhagen. Mr Frederiksen said: 'When she went in between them, they broke her nose, so you can say she's never been afraid to stick her nose out.'She's always been a fighter. You can still see the little dent in her nose if you look at photos of her.' Mr Frederiksen said his sister's experience of growing up in Aalborg, a working-class port city, gave her valuable expertise on how to stand up to threats, including the one posed by Donald Trump, who has been threatening to annex Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark.She is among several European leaders set to attend a security summit about the Arctic, which has been at the centre of rising tensions, in the Finnish city of Rovaniemi in September.Claims by Mr Trump that Greenland should become American and China's move to send a container vessel on a route through the Arctic have put an intense spotlight on the region.The September 13-14 meeting aims 'to strengthen the EU's common strategic approach to the Arctic region as its geopolitical significance continues to grow rapidly', according to a statement from Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo's office.EU leaders including Germany's Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Mrs Frederiksen are scheduled to attend, along with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and EU Council President Antonio Costa.'The Arctic region is an increasingly important part of Europe's security environment,' Mr Orpo said in the statement.'The European Union has direct interests in its stability, security and sustainable development. It is very valuable to be able to discuss these issues together with a comprehensive group of EU leaders,' he added.The Arctic has taken on increased strategic importance as the melting of sea ice has improved access to crucial natural resources and opened up new maritime routes.
