Daniel Radcliffe Revives His Best Non-Potter Character In Just 3 Weeks

Published Oct 17, 2026, 6:27 PM EDT Laura Hurley has been writing about the entertainment industry for more than twelve years, after a decade as a content producer and editor at CinemaBlend after writing for WhatCulture and Examiner. Attending events like SCAD TVfest and San Diego Comic-Con over the course of her career, she has been immersed in the world of network, streaming, and cable TV. Daniel Radcliffe will always be famous for playing Harry Potter across eight blockbuster movies, but some of his best projects in the years since he put down his wand have been on television. In fact, he joined a network TV show as a series regular for the first time in 2026, opposite a comedy legend. NBC's The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins showcases Radcliffe in some fresh ways, and it's only a matter of weeks until he's back on primetime. NBC has had hits and misses with its comedy lineup over the past several years. George Lopez's Lopez vs Lopez only ran for three seasons, and John Larroquette's Night Court revival was one of network TV's most shocking cancellations of 2025 after three seasons. At the same time, Reba McEntire's Happy's Place has flourished on Friday nights, and St. Denis Medical fills the mockumentary void after the end of The Office and Parks & Recreation. The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins is NBC's most recent comedy hit, after a 10-episode first season aired in early 2026. The sitcom will be back with Daniel Radcliffe, Tracy Morgan, and Bobby Moynihan in NBC's fall premiere schedule on November 2. Not only is it worth tuning in for returning fans, but there is still plenty of time left to catch up on Peacock. The Fall & Rise Of Reggie Dinkins Is Daniel Radcliffe At His Best Scott Gries/NBC The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins follows disgraced former football star Reggie Dinkins (Morgan), who is determined to redeem himself from his ruined reputation. He decides that a documentary following his daily life would be the perfect way to do it, and he hires director Arthur Tobin (Radcliffe) to make it happen. Unfortunately, Arthur has a tarnished reputation himself after a breakdown on the set of a Marvel-esque movie, so Reggie's project gives Arthur a shot at redemption as well. While the premise sounds like a heartwarming tale of men recovering from their unfortunate pasts, there are a lot of laughs courtesy of Morgan and Radcliffe as a comedyduo. Naturally, the comedy's focus is on Morgan as the titular character, but Radcliffe proved that he could hold his own early on. Arthur Tobin's breakdown while filming Professor Squeeze in the Monoverse was arguably one of the best sequences of the entire first season, complete with fury over having to use tennis balls and extensive special effects. The show illustrates that Radcliffe is much more than a boy wizard, and he undoubtedly contributed to Reggie Dinkins's stellar Rotten Tomatoes score. He'll Always Be Harry Potter, But Daniel Radcliffe's Other Roles Are Underrated Scott Gries/NBC Radcliffe first began to show off his talents as a comedic TV actor with four seasons of TBS's Miracle Workers, opposite Steve Buscemi. Going from a billion-dollar film franchise like Harry Potter to a TBS sitcom was an unlikely move, and the show never got the attention it deserved on basic cable. He could reach a larger audience on NBC, and joining a legend like 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live alum Tracy Morgan was nearly a guarantee that The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins would be a hit. Radcliffe shines in comedy rather than fantasy these days. He even proved his mettle as a film actor outside of Harry Potter. Radcliffe earned critical acclaim in 2022 for his lead role in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, as well as nominations from the Critics' Choice Awards and Emmy Awards. Of course, even though HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series cast a new actor to play the titular wizard, Radcliffe will almost certainly be best known as the actor who brought Harry to life in the film adaptations. Scratch & Peek Identify the cover art while scratching off as little foil as possible. Still, he deserves to be commended for stepping back from blockbusters in the following years, because the first season of The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins wouldn't have been nearly as funny without him. Season 2 will premiere on Monday, November 2 at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC, following St. Denis Medical.
