Among the highlights of her career has been the opportunity to interview several cast members from her favorite series, Outlander. Daisy Ridley is getting another Star Wars reunion, and this one is happening in a very unexpected place. The actor, best known for playing Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, is part of the cast of Nevatars, a new mixed-reality fantasy project directed by Andy Serkis and Josh Nelson Youssef. The project is set to be part of Venice Immersive at the 2026 Venice International Film Festival, and its cast includes several actors with connections to a galaxy far, far away. Most notably, Ridley is reunited with Kelly Marie Tran, who played Resistance fighter Rose Tico in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. The film's official Venice listing names them among its main cast alongside Josh Gad, Kathleen Turner, Aisling Bea, Serkis, Steven Zahn, Leah Bateman, and Daniel Floren. That means there are actually four Star Wars-connected actors in that lineup. Nevatars is a 31-minute mixed-reality project centered on Aya, an aspiring artist whose discarded digital creations have been hidden away in a forgotten folder. According to the official synopsis, Aya's newest character accidentally falls into this strange digital world populated by creations that were never shared. The resulting escape mission forces her to confront the parts of herself she had nearly abandoned. Recently, Serkis shared a trailer that teases the bizarre world of Nevatars and its collection of forgotten creations. Ridley played Rey throughout the sequel trilogy, while Tran played Rose. Serkis is also a Star Wars veteran, playing Supreme Leader Snoke. Gad is the more surprising connection, as he voiced the Imperial Controller LT-319 in an episode of Star Wars Rebels. Nevatars an appropriately meta premise for a project built around performers and digital characters, particularly given that the film is designed as an immersive experience rather than a traditional theatrical movie. The Star Wars reunion isn't the only reason the project is getting attention. Serkis, whose work in performance capture includes playing Gollum in The Lord of the Rings and Caesar in the Planet of the Apes movies, is one of the directors and creators. Nevatars is being produced by Imaginarium Productions, Boona, Google - 100 Zeros, and 3Dar. For Ridley, meanwhile, Nevatars is another interesting project in a busy stretch of her post-Star Wars career. The actor is also expected to return as Rey in the upcoming Star Wars: New Jedi Order, while her other recent projects include The Last Resort, which features another Star Wars alum. However, since the announcement, there has been little movement in the potential sequel, as Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan took over leadership from Kathleen Kennedy. Meanwhile, Ridley's next reunion is proving that the franchise's stars don't necessarily need that galaxy far, far away to end up back together.
