At Star Wars Celebration 2023, it was announced that Ridley would be reprising her role as Rey Skywalker in a movie about the New Jedi Order, set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy was named as the director, with Steven Knight originally writing the script before he exited the project and was replaced with George Nolfi. Three years since it was first announced, though, the film's status and Ridley's future in the franchise is unclear. Deadline now reports that Ridley has joined the horror movie Get Rid of It alongside Sosie Bacon and Simon Rex. Ridley plays Harper, who goes on a road trip with her sister Jessie, only for their cross-country journey to take an unexpected turn when Harper discovers she is pregnant after a one-night stand with a mysterious drifter they encounter named Miller. The sisters then fight for survival while grappling with the fact that's what growing inside Harper may not be human. Get Rid of It is anticipated to begin production toward the beginning of 2027. It is directed by Ry Russo-Young, written by Gemma Holdway, and produced by David Lancaster. Check out Russo-Young's statement about the project below: Propulsive and playful, this project’s strength is its compelling point of view and heart beneath the horror. I’m thrilled to bring it to life with such an extraordinary and gifted group of collaborators. Joining the new horror movie, and having filming starting early next year, indicates that the New Jedi Order film will not be going into production anytime soon. She is also attached to multiple projects that have not begun production yet, including Paramount+'s The Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea series remake and the action thriller film Dedication. There have been rumors of the New Jedi Order's story being revamped and incorporated into the upcoming Star Wars movie written and produced by Simon Kinberg, which is meant to kick off a new trilogy, but any involvement from Ridley or Rey's return in it remains unconfirmed. Jon Watts has reportedly been selected as the director of the Kingberg film, which is rumored to be Episode X in the franchise. More to come...
