Cyclist fighting for their life in hit-and-run as cops hunt driver after car found abandoned by Football League stadium

NewsUK News A CYCLIST is fighting for his life after a collision with a car in a hit-and-run close to Birmingham City’s stadium. The man was given trauma care by paramedics at a busy junction near St Andrew’s before being rushed to hospital. A spokesperson for the force said: “We’re investigating after a serious collision involving a cyclist in Birmingham. “We were called to the junction of Cattell Road and Templefield Street in Small Heath at around 5.25am today. “The cyclist has been taken to hospital in a serious condition. “One car was abandoned at the scene by the driver who left on foot. “We are examining CCTV and speaking to witnesses as we work to establish the full circumstances of what happened.” A police cordon was in place by the football ground Credit: BPM Cops have not made any arrests so far as inquiries continue. An ambulance service spokeswoman said: “We were called to reports of an RTC involving a car and a pushbike at the junction of Cattell Road and Tilton Road in Nechells, Birmingham, at 5.23am and sent three ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic to the scene. “On arrival, a man, the cyclist, was found in a critical condition. “He received specialist trauma care before being conveyed under emergency driving conditions to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.” Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101, quoting log 580.
