Cyberpunk 2077 Officially Returns August 20 For New DLC

Cyberpunk 2077 Returns August 20 With New Fortnite Collab Published Aug 17, 2026, 6:30 AM EDT Known as 'Cyberpunk 2077's' biggest fan, Angharad is a Welsh games writer who thrives in anything related to digital storytelling. If a video game explores the intricacies and horrors of womanhood, she is there. Thanks to previous work at GAMINGbible, GameByte, The Loadout, Game Luster, Angharad has built a strong understanding of both the digital world and what fans want from it and is eager to share her thoughts and expertise with readers. Since its launch way back in 2017, Fortnite has completely dominated the gaming landscape and, despite hurtling towards its tenth anniversary, the battle royale title still boasts millions of players each year, and that is no doubt thanks to the endless amount of content that arrives on a monthly basis. Now, August will be no exception. That is because, to celebrate the arrival of Chapter 7, Season 4, Fortnite will be hosting its Override event, and you only need to look at the trailer alone to see that Cyberpunk 2077 has played a large role in the inspiration behind the brand-new season. With neon lights, glitched graphics, and futuristic tech, Override is a love letter to Cyberpunk 2077, which makes sense considering that Fortnite has collaborated with the CD Projekt RED RPG on more than one occasion. However, it is not just Cyberpunk 2077 fans that Fortnite's Override will appeal to, as the brand-new season is set to feature some of video games' most iconic characters, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Crash Bandicoot, Persona 5's Joker, Mega Man, Sypro, Raiden, Kitana, Lara Croft, Geralt of Rivia, and many more. With gameplay now centered around players having to override the system that controls Fortnite itself, it makes sense that the game's mascot, Jonesy, is having to be joined by some of the greats of gaming. Not only that, but the Override event also serves as a way of celebrating all of the collaborations and crossovers that have taken place over Fortnite's reign. As such, the map has also been transformed. As well as the futuristic design of the Night City-inspired areas, players will also experience platforming inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog’s Green Hill Zone, and there's even an area inspired by the Pac-Man franchise. Going through loops will reward you with super speed, and you can stumble across jump pads and springs that will help you zoom across the map and away from the enemy. We can also assume that brand-new weapons will be introduced for Fortnite's brand-new season. In the trailer, we can see Mega Man’s iconic arm cannon, and some other eagle-eyed fans will notice some other new accessories and abilities. Fortnite's Chapter 7 Season 4, titled Fortnite: Override, will launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, iOS, and Android on August 20th, and with a brand-new map, the return of some iconic characters, and a nod to titles such as Cyberpunk 2077, it is no wonder that this is set to be Fortnite's biggest season yet.
