Published Oct 30, 2026, 8:53 AM EDT Known as 'Cyberpunk 2077's' biggest fan, Angharad is a Welsh games writer who thrives in anything related to digital storytelling. If a video game explores the intricacies and horrors of womanhood, she is there. Thanks to previous work at GAMINGbible, GameByte, The Loadout, Game Luster, Angharad has built a strong understanding of both the digital world and what fans want from it and is eager to share her thoughts and expertise with readers. Despite CD Projekt RED claiming that it would no longer be releasing updates for its hit RPG, Cyberpunk 2077, it is safe to assume that that was quite the lie as, since the announcement, three post-game updates have been released and better yet, they have been added to the base game at absolutely no cost. The most recent update corresponds with the recent launch of season two of Cyberpunk Edgerunners, with the free download offering an anime-themed prequel, dual-wielding combat, cyberware customization, official cross-platform mod support, and more. Here at Screen Rant, our very own Evan D. Mullicane recapped the ending of Cyberpunk Edgerunners season one, as well as diving more into the ending of the more recent season. However, it seems as though the fun surrounding Cyberpunk 2077 is far from over as, despite the game quickly approaching its sixth anniversary, a major release is here to blow our minds. Courtesy of user omonkeyzz, and for the first time, Cyberpunk 2077 is now available to play on your web browser. As such, you will not have to buy or download the beloved RPG and instead launch it for free on your browser via Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome. Including the ability to create your own character (but still only allowing you to choose between female or male V), as well as exploring the game's vast open-world, which many consider to be one of the best in gaming history, this experience is truly remarkable, but there is no denying that you may run into some performance issues along the way. Courtesy of WebGPU, omonkeyzz has been able to avoid copyright issues, but there is still no saying if Cyberpunk 2077 on browser will remain. We have seen instances of this before, such as when Grand Theft Auto V was made available to play on browsers. However, as you can probably imagine, it did not last long with Rockstar at the helm. Not only that, but with plenty of shaders and assets to load, you should not expect a quick and smooth experience. The elephant in the room here is, although this is an incredible feat, it is always worth supporting your favorite games and their studios, and with a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel currently in development, it would be a shame to see CDPR go the same way as studios such as BioWare. Over on Facebook, the news of Cyberpunk 2077 on browser was shared on GamingHero, and it was here that fans of the game shared their thoughts on the new project. "CDPR are some of the few good guys left in AAA gaming," one comment read. "No DLC traps, they listen to their fans, no loot box BS and don’t focus on crappy mobile games. They’re the only ones I don’t pirate." Another said simply, "Just buy the game... and let CDPR make more great games." Although it is a free experience, Cyberpunk 2077 arrives on browser in a less-than-smooth set, and, as mentioned, there is no telling how long it will be available before it is removed. Nevertheless, if it is something you want to try, we wish you all the best.
