Cyberpunk 2077 is an exceptional RPG, its sprawling, neon-soaked, open-world metropolis providing ample opportunities for role-playing, chaotic carnage, and fun. However, as much fun as it is to roam around Night City alone, one cannot deny that playing alongside a friend would be significantly better. After all, as the adage goes, everything is better with a friend. Grand Theft Auto 5 proved that co-op and competitive multiplayer worked in a roleplay-heavy open-world setting, and it felt only right that Cyberpunk 2077 would follow suit. However, it never did, with Cyberpunk 2077's official multiplayer mode being canceled, and fans having to toil away in Night City as a lone wolf, forever. It was a sad fate we'd all resigned ourselves to until recently, as a brand-new co-op multiplayer mode is finally coming to Cyberpunk 2077 after all these years, promising fans a truly memorable experience and an all-new way of playing the game. Indeed, this new co-op mode offers fans a whole new perspective on not just Night City, but Cyberpunk 2077 as a whole. With Cyberpunk 2077's official multiplayer experience ending up being an arcade cabinet for two players, it meant that fans had to deliver the promised experience themselves. Naturally, this has led to mods like Cyber_MP, which allow players to roam around Night City together, wreaking havoc. However, while this is a lot of fun, it doesn't allow you to experience the entire campaign alongside a friend, something that numerous first-person open-world titles such as Far Cry do. Fortunately, NightCoop, the latest Cyberpunk 2077 mod, completely transforms the game's core campaign to cater to two players. It syncs up the host's save, including NPCs, quests, and the world, with the second player, ensuring that both experience every event, line of dialogue, and set piece simultaneously. Each and every facet of Cyberpunk 2077's design has been carefully considered and tweaked accordingly, including allowing players to vote on each choice (including timed ones), thus including the second player in any meaningful decisions. It's rather staggering just how robust a mod NightCoop is, how completely and unintrusively it transforms the core Cyberpunk 2077 experience to fully integrate co-operative gameplay. NightCoop goes beyond being a simple Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer mod; its ambitions are set far higher than merely offering chaos in Night City alongside a buddy. Being able to fully experience the campaign with a friend affords dedicated fans an entirely new perspective on a story, world, and characters they've become so intimately familiar with. It also adds PvP for those eager to kill their friends, making it the complete package. NightCoop isn't out yet, but it is well into development, with its developers showcasing new trailers and updates via its official YouTube channel. An Open Beta is starting on Friday, October 23, 2026, and is available for download via the game's official Discord. However, there isn't an ETA for the full project. One can only imagine the work that must go into ensuring every choice, quest, and line of dialogue works, even if only a little, with two players present. Hopefully NightCoop will drop sooner rather than later, as Cyberpunk 2077 is very much in need of a co-op mode.
