Cyber Jagratha awareness campaign launched in Keralam

Kunhalikutty on Wednesday launched the Kerala State IT Mission’s Cyber Jagratha – SafeTech Campaign, a major public initiative to make cyber awareness part of everyday life and build a culture of digital vigilance by equipping citizens with practical knowledge to identify online risks, avoid online fraud, respond responsibly and use digital services with confidence and caution.Inaugurating the initiative, Mr. Kunhalikutty said the rapid expansion of technology had also created opportunities for exploitation, making cyber safety a significant social concern. “Technology can be safe, but it can also become a source of exploitation,” he said, emphasising the need to protect ordinary users who are particularly vulnerable to cyber exploitation.The campaign will initially train 1,000 academic ambassadors and 1,500 community ambassadors, who will take cyber safety awareness to one lakh students and one lakh citizens across the State.SafeTech ClubsThe initiative will be implemented in phases through SafeTech Clubs, community ambassadors and a dedicated online platform offering information and resources on cyber safety. C.P. John, Minister for Transport, presided over the function. Ministers N. Samsudheen, Roji M. John and Bindhu Krishna attended the programme as guests of honour. Seeram Sambasiva Rao, Special Secretary, Department of Information Technology, and Sachin Kumar Yadav, Director, Kerala State IT Mission, were also present.The campaign’s SafeTech mascot, ‘Kio’, was unveiled at the launch. The campaign portal was inaugurated by Mr. John, while the campaign logo was launched by Mr. Samsudheen. Ms. Krishna launched a video inviting campaign ambassadors.
