He lost his right hand below the elbow after falling from a tree as a child, but refused to let the setback define him.Initially specialising in the 400m, Gavit was still competing in open events over the one-lap distance in 2021 as an 18-year-old. His breakthrough arrived at the 2023 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, where he won gold in the men's 400m T47 event.
