Scott and his family had been munching peanuts and dropping the shells in the stands – as per tradition – when they spotted the foraging paw. “We soon realised it was a racoon”, he added. The scavenger’s best find however was likely the huge hotdog sausage it managed to paw through its hole. A sympathetic witness helped the racoon claim his meaty prize – by pushing the bratwurst towards him. “He took it!” chortled one laughing woman in the background. It follows viral sightings of a deformed racoon sprinting through the streets of Seattle. Dubbed Jimothy the racoon the wild animal has a shorter-than-usual spine – lending him a hunched appearance. Experts claim the rare spinal condition can cause serious problems – but Associate Professor Marcie Logsdon said the prognosis was “positive”. She added: “The fact that he’s made it to this age tells me that he’s managing and that he’s adapting. “I was surprised and honestly a little bit inspired that he’s that resilient.” And just days ago it became easier for Americans to have their very own pet racoon.
