Customers have just HOURS left to get £225 free cash before major bank pulls switching bonus

SAVERS have just hours left to make £225 in free cash by switching to a major bank. Santander is currently offering new customers £180 to switch to one of its accounts, plus a £45 Amazon gift card. But the deal is ending at 2pm tomorrow (July 31) so you’ll need to be quick to get it. To be eligible for the free cash, you need to switch to a Santander Edge, Edge Up or Everyday Current Account. Switch today to get £180 + £45 Amazon gift card That means you’ll need to move your funds from your current bank, set up two household direct debits and pay in £1,500 within 60 days. This could come from your monthly salary, so you should be able to do this if you earn at least £18,000 per year. You also can’t have had a Santander account since January 1, 2025, or have previously received a switching bonus from the bank. You should check which of the above accounts is right for you before you switch, as some come with fees. The Edge current account has a £3 monthly fee and you need to pay in at least £500 a month. The Edge Up account has a £5 fee and you need to pay in at least £1,500 a month. But it gets you up to £15 cashback on your household bills and you earn 2.1% interest on your funds, which is unusual in a current account. The Everyday current account has no fees and no monthly minimum you need to pay in, but you don’t get as many perks. You still get access to Santander’s 8% Regular Saver, and you can use Santander cash machines abroad without any fees. Just be aware the Amazon gift card offer is only available through selected comparison sites, so if you apply directly through Santander you won’t be eligible for the reward. The Santander website also says you need to apply BEFORE tomorrow, which gives you less time. The comparison websites you can get the offer through include MoneySavingExpert and MoneySuperMarket. You can get access to the offer here. How do I switch bank accounts? SWITCHING bank accounts is a simple process and can usually be done through the Current Account Switch Service (CASS). Dozens of high street banks and building societies are signed up – there’s a full list on CASS’ website. Under the switching service, swapping banks should take seven working days. You don’t have to remember to move direct debits across when moving, as this is done for you. All you have to do is apply for the new account you want, and the new bank will tell your existing one you’re moving. There are a few things you can do before switching though, including choosing your switch date and transferring any old bank statements to your new account. You should get in touch with your existing bank for any old statements. When switching current accounts, consider what other perks might come with joining a specific bank or building society. Some banks offer 0% overdrafts up to a certain limit, and others might offer better rates on savings accounts. And some banks offer free travel or mobile phone insurance with their current accounts – but these accounts might come with a monthly fee. Comment now
