Published July 30, 2026 02:04 PM A pair of court appearances involving the son of Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy have been delayed pending a mental health evaluation. Elijah Bieniemy was arrested on Monday and charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling after his mother was shot in the family’s home in Virginia on Sunday. Mia Bieniemy was taken to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and was released from ICU this week.Elijah Bieniemy remains in the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. The court appearances were scheduled for Thursday and August 31, but, per the Associated Press, will be continued until the mental health evaluation takes place. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said that there is no timetable for Eric Bieniemy to return to the team.
