Matt Baker has revealed he has welcomed a new dog to his family following the devastating loss of his family's Border Collie, Bob, last year.The Countryfile presenter, 48, announced they are now the owners of a sheepdog puppy called Ted at their Durham farm in the Chiltern Hills.Matt and his wife Nicola, who are parents to son Luke, 18, and daughter Molly, 16, own a farm where they keep livestock including chickens and sheep.They have documented their life on the farm on their Channel 4 series, Our Farm In The Dales, and their new addition Ted will appear on future episodes.The Baker family dog Bob died around 12 months ago and they were left devastated by the passing of the animal. Sharing the news about his new pooch with the Express, Matt said: 'Ted is very good, he's doing well, and he's settling in. Ivy, our little miniature Dachshund, she's sort of helping to rear him if you like, and the pair of them are getting on like a house on fire, so it's all going as swimmingly as I'd hope it would do.'He's a beautiful boy with a lovely nature. I've no doubt he'll be a great sheepdog. That's what his future holds, as well as doubling up as a household dog.'The former Blue Peter presenter previously said it 'took a lot to get over' the death of their beloved pooch Bob.He told the Radio Times: 'He'd been with me for the major moments in my life, so it was tough when he wasn't. We're fortunate to have these animals in our lives.'Every single one has taught me something, and I'm grateful. Grief is the price you pay for love.'Matt didn't announce the death of Bob until May this year, saying he'd been left 'broken' by the pooch's passing and thanked his 'ultimate companion' for bringing so much joy to his family's lives.Matt took to Instagram with an emotional tribute to the late dog, who he revealed sadly passed away 'a while' ago.Alongside snaps of himself with Bob on his family's farm in Durham, he penned: 'It's with a very heavy heart that I'm letting you know our wonderful Bob is no longer with us. He's been gone a while but I haven't been able to talk about it as I've been finding it so incredibly sad.'Bob was a brilliant dog he was there for me with his gentle soul as the ultimate companion through some of the greatest chapters of my life from raising our kids to all the changes we made on our family farm.He went on: 'It's broken my heart but I feel hugely grateful to have had him in our lives and I thank him from the bottom of my heart for everything he's taught me and brought to our family.'
