But country music is big business, and there are plenty of performers making good money. So, perhaps to the surprise of some, Parton was not the richest singer in the industry when she passed away back on Aug. 25. Instead, Beyoncé topped the list. And for the country music diehards, yes, Beyoncé is a country music artist as well as a hip-hop and R&B artist. Her “Cowboy Carter” won Best Country Album at the Grammys. The artist made it into elite company this year as one of only a handful of musicians in the world to amass a net worth of $1 billion or more, according to Forbes.She sits right at $1 billion while her husband, Jay-Z, sits atop the list with $2.53 billion. Rihanna, with an estimated fortune of $1.03 billion, Bruce Springsteen ($1.17 billion), and Taylor Swift ($2.1 billion) all made the list. Paul McCartney also has an estimated net worth of $1.3 billion. As for the richest artists in country music, Parton was right behind Beyoncé with an estimated fortune of $650 million followed by Garth Brooks ($400 million) and Shania Twain ($350-410 million).However, Brooks could overtake them all according to a recent Wall Street Journal report, because the site said he has been considering selling his music catalog and is seeking “roughly $2 billion for the rights to his songs and recordings.”The Wall Street Journal noted that Sony bought Queen’s publishing for $1 billion in 2024 and half of Michael Jackson’s catalog for “over $1 billion.” As for Beyoncé, she has several business interests that have helped boost her wealth, including a hair-care brand, a whiskey label, and a clothing line, but Forbes noted that her musical career remains red-hot and is the main source of her fortune.Brian Linder is the trending editor at PennLive.com.
