CORONATION Street star Tracy Shaw has admitted she suffered “a wobble” following a recent tearful cancer update. The actress took to Instagram to thank fans for their well-wishes, after issuing a distressing update that surgery wasn’t an option for her current condition. Addressing the camera in an orange beanie and a slate hoodie, Tracy, 52, said: “Thank you so much for your truly inspiring, encouraging messages. Sign up for the Showbiz newsletter Thank you! “There was one lady sent me a message about sometimes the shape of [the cancer is] still there because they are the dead cancer cells. I like that. I’m hanging on to that one. “Yeah, yesterday was a wobble and yeah, there are moments like this when on this journey.” She played Maxine on the long-running ITV soap between 1995 and 2003 (pictured 2001) Credit: Getty Earlier this week, she underwent further tests to see if the condition had become any worse Credit: Instagram The star tearfully confessed how surgery would not be possible Credit: Instagram Tracy is pictured in Corrie as Maxine Peacock Credit: Granada As she walked through a field surrounded by woodland, she continued: “So today I woke up four o’clock, 4am, because I do go to bed early, and I sat and waited and watched the most beautiful sunrise and I realised the gifts and the gratitude that I have. “That, although the whole of this journey is just pretty excruciating most of the time, there’s some major plus signs to how my life has changed in that I woke up today before the light. “And I generally, my body just falls to sleep when it’s going dark and I get to see and sit in stillness and see part of the world that I wouldn’t normally experience. “And for that, I’m really truly grateful.” Most read in Showbiz Speaking about making bonds with other cancer patients, she added: “I also wouldn’t have met you amazing women who have gone through way more than I’m crying about yesterday. So thank you. “Thank you for shining the light and giving me the courage to get up today and to keep moving forward. And for that, I am really grateful. Thank you.” Earlier this week, she underwent further tests to see if the condition had become any worse, and was told the lesions in her breast had changed shape following treatment and not shrunk in size. Tracy revealed in the tearful clip that she had found a lump in her other breast but it was ruled out as a cyst. However, the lesions in her left breast had changed shape after chemo, rather than shrunk, and surgery had been ruled out. Having gone from being circular to oval, Tracy admitted she was hoping for better news, having put her body through chemo. The former ITV actress has been aiming to keep positive throughout her cancer battle and recently reunited with fellow former co-star Sally Ann Mathews for a joyous day out to take her mind off her ongoing health battle. Tracy, 52, revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in April after finding a lump in her breast. She played Maxine Peacock on the long-running ITV soap between 1995 and 2003.
