Coronation Street’s latest Sarah murder twist causes devastation for more than one person

In tonight’s episode, DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) had his heart broken, while Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) was once again left questioning her marriage. Maria faced a tough interrogation from DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) after Gary Windass’ (Mikey North) confession last night. Viewers will recall that Maria had given Gary a false alibi before learning that he had been involved in covering up Theo’s murder. When Gary handed himself into the police, it cast doubt on how much Maria knew. Maria stood her ground through Lisa’s questioning, but it was clear she was shaken up when Lisa pointed out how much Gary must care for Sarah to have gone to the lengths he did to help cover her crime. When she got home, Maria told Gary that Lisa clearly didn’t believe her story, but didn’t have the evidence to prove that she’d lied. She continued to berate Gary for needing to play the hero, revealing what Lisa had suggested about him still having feelings for Sarah. Gary denied it, but Maria clearly wasn’t convinced. Meanwhile, Sarah summoned Kit to the prison for an important conversation. Viewers know that Kit has gone to extreme lengths to try and help Sarah, putting his career on the line in the process – something she doesn’t want him to do anymore. She explained that she suspected he would resent her down the line, and so she wanted to call off their relationship now.
