Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd’s baby update but ‘ship has sailed’ on key moment | Freelance Soaps Reporter Published October 6, 2026 9:51am Updated October 6, 2026 9:51am Davina P Shepherd?! (Picture: On The Sofa) Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd shared a super sweet baby update on his podcast, On The Sofa, which he hosts alongside Ben Price and Colson Smith. Jack and his wife, Hanni, welcomed baby Constance Ita on June 26 of this year, after revealing that they were expecting a baby in an adorable Instagram post. Updates on baby Constance have mostly come from Jack’s podcast, where he’s discussed her progress with his co-hosts, recently talking about her going swimming, and how much she didn’t enjoy her latest dip in the pool. ‘Constance went swimming,’ Jack started, with Ben asking if it’d been underwater swimming. Jack confirmed that she’d been dunked under. With Colson a little confused, Ben explained that babies are born with reflexes that naturally block their airways and slow their heart rates when under water: ‘Colson won’t know this, babies, they can swim, they can close it off automatically. So you can push a baby under water and they close their nose and their mouth off automatically. ‘I think you have to do it when they’re roughly newborn, but obviously she’s not newborn now, she’s three months, so I think that ship has sailed’, he continued. The boys talked about Constance’s trip to the pool (Picture: On The Sofa) Jack went on to detail a slight wardrobe malfunction that Constance suffered, leaving her rather irritated. ‘This is her second time of going, first time she liked it, second time, f***ing meltdown!’ he said. ‘So her legs looked a bit red, and I thought, why do her legs look so red? She’s in 0 to three months, and she’s three months, so she’s probably three to six. So, a couple of weeks ago, it probably fit her. ‘I think her trunks were too tight, poor thing. ‘So she’s come out and she’s screaming the house down by the swimming pool. Jack and Hanni welcomed Constance in June (Picture: David Fisher/Shutterstock) A previous On The Sofa discussion saw the three try and come up with baby names prior to Constance being born, with Jack revealing a hilarious suggestion he’d previously received. ‘It was suggested, I actually thought it would be funny…David. David P Shepherd. Don’t you think that would be f***ing brilliant? The balls, the ballsy-ness! ‘Even better, David Jr.’ Craig and Ben then suggested that the baby receive ‘P’ as a middle name, referenced the P in Jack’s stage name, while also suggesting ‘Davina’, should the baby be a little girl. ‘You avoid picking baby names based on people you don’t like,’ Jack said, when the conversation turned more serious. ‘What you do is when you’re picking names, you Google, you’ll go French names, Italian names, something that’s a bit, you know, European and posh. That’s what we were thinking. Constance came up and it was probably the only one that we both agreed on.’ David finds himself in between two warring sisters (Picture: Mark Bruce/ITV) Jack recently returned on-screen to the ITV soap, having taken paternity leave, during which time he underwent his third hair transplant. ‘I could see it, I could see it further back in the middle. I could see it going in,’ he began. ‘So it was sort of act now while I could and I had a bit of time off for the baby, so it was perfect.’ ‘Paternity and hair transplant?’ suggested Colson. ‘Exactly that, what a month!’ Jack replied. Now back in the thick of it, David finds himself a major player in the silent war Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) is waging against her sister, and David’s wife, Shona (Julia Goulding), aiming to obliterate her life while keeping the pieces for herself.
