Coronation Street’s Betsy makes a major choice about Dylan – and Lauren is disgusted

Betsy was rushed to hospital after collapsing at home, and it was later explained that she had been left with aphasia and dysarthria, which affected her speech and caused weakness in her right side muscles. Due to her age, the stroke came as a huge shock to Betsy’s family, but when Betsy revealed that she and boyfriend Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) had been experimenting with consensual strangulation during sex, the doctor confirmed that this was likely the cause. Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers)was quick to blame Dylan, and even reported him to the police, despite Betsy’s protests. At first, Dylan refused to accept any responsibility, believing that he couldn’t have played any part in Betsy’s injury. They were interrupted by a police officer who arrived to take Betsy’s statement, but it later transpired that she had been unable to give one. She explained to Lisa that Dylan wasn’t a bad person, and hadn’t meant to hurt her, and she didn’t want him to get into trouble as she didn’t believe he’d done anything wrong. Although Lisa argued that Dylan needed to face the consequences for his actions as, consensual or not, what he’d done was illegal, she ultimately respected Betsy’s wishes. Unfortunately, best friend Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) wasn’t as accepting of Betsy’s decision. When Lisa told her that Dylan had apologised and Betsy didn’t want to speak to the police, Lauren made her frustrations clear, as she lamented how too many men have got away with doing whatever they want without consequences. She made it clear that she wouldn’t stand for it any longer, and swore that she wouldn’t let Dylan get away with putting Betsy’s life at risk, leaving Lisa stunned.
