Coronation Street star Vicky Myers confirms future as Lisa and Carla get ‘stronger and stronger’

The fan-favourite couple, known to viewers as Swarla, tied the knot in emotional scenes back in April. ‘They fundamentally love and respect each other’, Vicky said of the dynamic, speaking to Metro on the red carpet at the Inside Soap Awards, adding that Lisa sees Carla’s ‘heart’, particularly in the wake of Betsy’s (Sydney Martin) strangulation ordeal. ‘Carla has looked after her daughter and we all know for Lisa that Betsy is her everything.’ ‘So for their relationship to blossom as it has done since the wedding, I think it’s really beautiful and they’re getting stronger and stronger. ‘I know we’ve not seen that much of them onscreen lately but while they were away that bond has got stronger and deeper.’ Vicky was bowled over by her double award win at the Inside Soap Awards, where she was crowned Best Actress and secured the gong for Best Partnership, an award she shares with on-screen wife Alison King. ‘It’s ridiculous isn’t it!’, she said with a smile. ‘It’s deja vu. Wow’. Vicky said that the awards are ‘for the fans’. ‘Their level of investment, loyalty and unwavering support is beyond. It’s not been a quiet year for Lisa, who has been at the centre of a number of high-octane storylines. When she’s not investigating wrongdoing and making arrests on the eponymous Street, she’s been busy building a life with Carla and their daughter Betsy. Lisa has also been at the side of daughter Betsy, who suffered a stroke following a consensual sexual strangulation ordeal, with her and Carla supporting the teen through her recovery.
