Gone, but not forgotten. RIP, Kylie Platt. (Picture: ITV) Sorry, Shona. David Platt’s love story with the dearly departed Kylie Platt will always have a special place in our hearts on Coronation Street – and we’re not alone. Actor Jack P Shepherd, who portrays David, recently marked the ten-year anniversary of the death of his then-onscreen-wife Kylie, played by Paula Lane with an Instagram post full of pictures and videos commemorating her heart-breaking death on the Cobbles. ’10 years ago we said goodbye to Kylie Platt,’ Jack posted. ‘Here’s some behind the scenes pictures and vids, it was a great story & the most challenging story I’ve played 💔forever missed’ Gone, but not forgotten. RIP, Kylie Platt. (Picture: ITV) The post was a highlight reel showing those heartbreaking final moments where Kylie, after being stabbed the villainous Clayton (Hibbs Callum Harrison) while trying to protect her friend Gemma Winter (Dolly Rose Campbell), died in David’s arms. Shut up. We’re not crying, you’re crying. (Picture: ITV) Jack honoured the story as one of of the “most challenging” he’s played during his 26 year tenure on Coronation Street, and that’s going against some pretty stiff competition. Greatest hits include surviving serial killer Richard Hillman’s (Brian Capron) reign of terror, pushing his own mother Gail (Helen Worth) down the stairs, struggling with epilepsy, putting his own brother Nick (Ben Price) in a coma, not to mention countless scams, rampages and struggles with anger. Lo and behold, he came back to Coronation Street with his new fiancée on his arm, who just so happened to be the half-sister of the legendarily gobby Rovers’ barmaid Becky McDonald’s (Katherine Kelly) half-sister. Needless to say, David’s choice in bride did not go down well with Gail, especially when Kylie brought a whole heap of trouble to the Platts’ door. Gail did not approve. (Picture: ITV) Nonetheless, the pair ended up getting married and welcoming a daughter, Lily Platt (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner). However, after Kylie killed her drug-dealing dangerous ex Callum Logan (Sean Ward) in self-defence, she and David decided to head to Barbados for a fresh start. Unfortunately, Kylie never made it off the Cobbles and killed by Callum’s mate Clayton in harrowing scenes.
