Coronation Street confirms return for sex pervert Megan

When you thought you’d seen the last of her… (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV) Paedophile Megan Walsh is one of Coronation Street’s most repulsive villains in living memory. When she was finally locked up for her abuse of Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale), fans were convinced that was the last they’d see of her, but reportedly, Beth Nixon is soon to return to filming, with the ITV soap keen to explore another chapter of Megan and Will’s dark story. While she initially seemed like butter wouldn’t melt, Megan was quickly revealed as a dark and predatory force who was actively grooming Will into believing they were in a loving relationship and, while acting as his sports coach, had well and truly ensconced herself into the Driscoll family. Moving to Weatherfield alongside them, Megan’s wicked treatment of Will became clear. Her manipulation was evident as she switched with break-neck speed between love-bombing him and putting him on ice, forming a relationship with fellow teacher, Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), as a further means of covering her true intentions. When precocious Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) discovered what was really happening behind closed doors, Megan unleashed an even more bone-chilling side of herself. Megan had been abusing Will since before they both arrived on the street (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV) Megan also tortured Sam (Picture: Danielle Baguley/Shutterstock/ITV) She actively tortured the young boy by sabotaging his academic reputation and threatening to paint him as a pervert. While he did ultimately expose her, the effects of her torment pushed him into a full psychiatric breakdown. Megan continued to seem untouchable even after her arrest: with Will still deeply in misguided love with her and unwilling to testify, she also saw off the combined forces of Will’s step mum, Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) and Sam’s step mum’s, Leanne and Toyah Battersby (Jane Danson and Georgia Taylor), before aborting her surprise pregnancy to remove any evidence of her abuse of Will and framing his grandma, Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) for causing a miscarriage. It was only the interference of Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine), himself a victim of childhood sexual abuse, that led Will to see Megan for what she truly was. Despite her repeated attempts to get him to drop the charges, she eventually faced justice for all she’d done, being found guilty and sentenced to five years in prison. While Megan was unquestionably irredeemable, Beth’s co-stars were quick to lavish her with praise after she left, and she’s teased on a number of occasions the possibility that we’d see Megan again. Speaking on the Inside Soap podcast, when asked about a potential return, Beth said: ‘We’ll see, we will have to wait and see!’ When asked if she’d consider returning, she teased: ‘I’d love to. Any opportunity to come back I would always come back. I mean I loved it so much. I cried so much on my last day!’ ‘But yeah I’d love to come back. It’s such a fab place to work and I felt so blessed to have been given that storyline because there was so much in it. ‘I was trusted with so much material and I like to think hopefully that people have enjoyed the storyline. ‘So yeah, I’d love to see Megan in prison that’d be great.’ Megan finally faced justice (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV) She repeated her sentiments when speaking exclusively to Metro at the Inside Soap Awards when asked about the potential of a Megan comeback. ‘I think Megan’s relentless, isn’t she?’ Beth pondered. ‘So we don’t know, but for now she’s locked up and ‘throw away the key’ I’m sure that many people would say but, you know, she is relentless, isn’t she? ‘She’s delusional so she might worm her way back in one day, but we never know.’ She also spoke on her favourite scene to film: ‘I think the scene with the three sisters was fabulous because they were just all absolutely on fire. ‘I think it was such a dark storyline, obviously I was crying all the time, screaming and kicking off, but that was a dark scene, but it had so many comedic elements in it, so that one really sticks out for me. ‘I had the best day ever. I just remember my belly hurting. It was so much fun.’ Deals of the Day Kurt Geiger's new Notting Hill collection is a love letter to London's chaotic weather I’ve found the Hoover gadget that could make cleaning your floors so much easier I tried L'Oréal Paris's new PDRN serum and my skin looked glossier after one use This new Cricut gadget turns your favourite photos into stickers in minutes From kitchen hatches to burgundy walls – the biggest home trends for 2027 The Soaps Newsletter – Weekly Sign up for exclusive spoilers and interviews, handpicked by our Soaps Editor.
